Hi, I’m Rachel Roberts.

My pronouns are she/her. I’m a cis queer woman living and working on the unceded Bidjigal and Gadigal lands of Eora Nation (in Sydney, Australia). I’m a registered Clinical Counsellor with PACFA who works with a holistic, systems-focused approach.

I came to study counselling after over a decade as a freelance theatre artist and game maker for artist collective Boho Interactive, where I nurtured my love of big feelings, deep conversations and understanding complex systems. I consider myself a lived experience clinician, as my own experiences of navigating mental health are informative in my work and study.

Further training

I am required to participate in a yearly program of Continued Professional Development (CPD) as part of maintaining my accreditation as a Clinical Counsellor with PACFA.

Recent CPD has included:
- Gestalt Group Facilitation with the The Relational Institute Australia (TRIA)
- Talking about sex in therapy with Tanya Koens
- Somatic Psychotherapy Training with IOSP
- PTSD trainings with Blue Knot Foundation
- Certified Eating Disorder Clinician training with the National Eating Disorders Collaboration
And further trainings in harm reduction, body liberation, neurodiversity affirming therapeutic practice, and care for Trans and GNC folks.

I have been a member of the Rough Patch community of practice for 4 years, and learned immensely from the generosity of all the practitioners in that community. We share skills, participate in supervision and peer learning, with a strong social justice focus.

I maintain current certifications in CPR, First Aid and Mental Health First Aid.
I have trained and volunteered as a Lifeline Crisis Supporter Accreditation.

More about me

I love to deepen my knowledge of my passion areas (human pyschology, therapeutic practice, queer/fat/disability politics…) and when I’m not at work, I’m working through a hefty pile of books. I’m a hobby sewist, exploring making my own clothing as a practice of loving and accommodating my body. I also enjoy gaming (tabletop and RPG) and snuggling with the best dog Ralph. Ralph’s not a therapy dog, so you won’t meet him in our sessions, but just imagine the best dog you can ;)
